There were 501 students enrolled in Sam Houston State University Charter School in the 2022-23 school year, 16% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 53.9% of them were boys, and 46.1% were girls.

The most represented ethnicity among Sam Houston State University Charter School students was white, accounting for 43.1% of the student population.

Sam Houston State University Charter School roughly covers schools within Walker County with its main office in Spring.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
