On March 11, 2025, Congressman Morgan Luttrell expressed concern about the rapid spread of the New World screwworm. He emphasized the potential impact on livestock and wildlife if proactive measures are not taken. In his tweet, he urged the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) to intensify eradication efforts. "The New World screwworm is spreading fast, and if we don’t get ahead of it, our livestock and wildlife will pay the price. I’m calling on @USDA to ramp up eradication efforts."
