On March 5, 2025, Congressman Luttrell expressed his condolences following the death of Sylvester Turner. He wrote, "I am saddened to hear of the passing of Sylvester Turner, a fellow Texan and colleague in Congress. Leslie and I are praying for his family and loved ones during this difficult time."

Later that day, Luttrell commented on a significant development regarding the Abbey Gate Bombing in Afghanistan. He stated, "Under President Trump’s leadership, the terrorist behind the Abbey Gate Bombing during the botched Afghanistan withdrawal has been apprehended. We will never forget the 13 American heroes who lost their lives during the attack. Justice will be served."
