Rep. Dan Crenshaw, a U.S. Congressman representing Texas’ 2nd district since 2019, recently addressed the issue of high gas prices in California through a series of tweets. Born in Aberdeen, Scotland, in 1984 and currently residing in Humble, Crenshaw graduated from Tufts University with a BA in 2006.
On December 11, 2024, Rep. Crenshaw commented on the persistent high gas prices faced by California drivers. He stated that "California drivers continue to pay some of the highest gas prices in the country—and it’s no mystery why."
In another tweet posted on the same day, Crenshaw criticized certain legislative efforts by Democrats. He remarked that "many Democrats want to nationalize bad California law." He expressed optimism about reversing these laws over the next two years.
Further elaborating on his views regarding legislation affecting fuel prices, Crenshaw tweeted that such laws do not help stabilize prices but exacerbate them. According to him, "laws like this don’t stabilize prices—they make things worse." He pointed out that when refineries reduce operations or shut down, Californians become more reliant on expensive imports and face higher costs at the pump.
