In a recent Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee hearing, Rep. Dan Crenshaw criticized U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Xavier Becerra for the agency's reliance on questionable research rather than hard science in determining gender transitioning policies for minors. Rep. Crenshaw lambasted the Biden Administration for pushing what he referred to as pseudoscience under the guise of healthcare.

During the hearing, Rep. Crenshaw highlighted concerns about the practices of affirming children's gender ideations and subjecting them to puberty blockers and surgeries, stating, "Most Americans and normal people would say that giving a 12-year-old girl a double mastectomy is not ok." He further emphasized the lack of high-quality evidence supporting the transition of children and criticized the influence of left-wing ideology in medical institutions.

Citing the Cass Review, Rep. Crenshaw pointed out the weak evidence for puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgeries in gender transition, with only a few studies meeting acceptable quality standards. He expressed dismay over the United States' approach compared to peer countries and accused Secretary Becerra of being a mouthpiece for the Radical Left.

Rep. Crenshaw concluded by advocating for legislation to defund children's hospitals promoting what he termed as pseudoscience, asserting that gender ideology should be relegated to the past. The exchange underscores the ongoing debate surrounding gender transitioning policies and the role of scientific evidence in shaping healthcare decisions.
