The Woodlands Township Board of Directors recently approved the 2021 preliminary budget with a proposed tax rate of $0.2231 per $1,000 of taxable value.
A presentation of the preliminary budget shown to the board at its Aug. 5 meeting shows that the taxable property value for the township has risen approximately $252.4 million for the 2021 tax year. New property rose by 1.1% while the township also saw a 0.6% increase in valuation.
The increase in overall property value has led to a slight decrease in the tax rate, which was $0.2240 for 2020, according to the presentation. However, whether or not that means a lower tax bill for individual taxpayers will depend on whether their property valuation increased or stayed the same from year-to-year.
The board also approved an interlocal agreement with Montgomery County for law enforcement services, according to an accounting of the meetings posted to the township website. In addition, the board approved a series of budget initiatives, the proposed 2020 debt service tax rate of $0.0151 per $1,000 of taxable value and a maintenance and operations tax rate of $0.2080.
