VGXI Inc. will be moving its headquarters in two years from The Woodlands to Conroe.

Community Impact Newspaper reports VGXI will move to Conroe's Deison Technology Park in January 2022, according to a news release published by the Conroe Economic Development Council.

VGXI is a manufacturer of plasmid DNA for gene therapies and vaccines. The company is working on producing a COVID-19 vaccination and is planning a clinical study to begin this summer.

The new headquarters is a 240,000-square-foot facility that will help in manufacturing "more urgent vaccine solutions," the newspaper reports.

The new facility will include fermentors with 1,500-liter capacities, whereas VGXI's current fermentors are only 500-liter models. The fermentors, the news agency reports, are used during the making of vaccines to multiply cells.
