Wesley Hunt wins re-election in Texas’s 38th District, continues congressional service

Wesley Hunt has been re-elected to represent Texas’s 38th District in the U.S. Congress, defeating Melissa McDonough in the 2024 general election with 62.9% of the vote.

The outcome underscores Hunt’s continued support among voters in his district and maintains his position in Congress, which he has held since 2023. According to official results, Hunt received 214 votes compared to McDonough’s 126.

Hunt previously won the seat in the 2022 general election, where he defeated Duncan Klussmann by a margin of 63% to 35.5%. In that race, Hunt secured 162 votes while Klussmann received 91.

Hunt was born in Houston, Texas, in 1981 and is currently a resident of Houston. He is now serving his second term as representative for Texas’s newly created congressional district.
