Wesley Hunt has officially filed his paperwork to run for the U.S. Senate, marking a significant step in his campaign for the seat representing Texas. This comes six weeks after Hunt announced his candidacy. In this short period, he has moved up to second place in the race, while incumbent Senator John Cornyn has fallen to last place in the polls.
Cornyn’s campaign has been marked by negative ads targeting Hunt and a substantial expenditure of $50 million over nine months. Despite these efforts, Cornyn’s approval ratings have dropped to record lows for an incumbent senator.
Hunt is positioning himself as a candidate who embodies Texas values and promises not to burden the party with excessive costs. He emphasizes that he is “the ONLY candidate who can win the primary and the general election.”
Wesley Hunt, born in Houston in 1981, currently resides there. He has been serving as a U.S. Representative for Texas’s 38th District since 2023. In previous elections, Hunt defeated Melissa McDonough in 2024 with 62.9% of the vote and Duncan Klussmann in 2022 with 63% of the vote.
U.S. Rep. Wesley Hunt (R-Tomball) aims to provide an alternative choice for Texans seeking new representation in Washington.
