Wesley Hunt, a U.S. Representative from Tomball, Texas, is making his case for the U.S. Senate as the election approaches. In a recent Q&A with the San Antonio Report, Hunt emphasized his vision for new leadership in the Senate. At 44 years old, Hunt brings experience as an Army combat veteran and former Apache Helicopter Pilot to his campaign.
Hunt’s political career includes serving in the U.S. Congress since 2023, representing Texas’s 38th District. He has previously secured electoral victories against opponents Melissa McDonough in 2024 and Duncan Klussmann in 2022, winning with significant margins of 62.9% and 63%, respectively.
The current race pits him against long-time incumbent John Cornyn, who has served for 24 years. Cornyn’s record includes voting for mass amnesty multiple times and opposing President Trump’s border wall, among other legislative actions.
Hunt positions himself as a “Young America First Freedom Fighter,” suggesting that Cornyn’s tenure has reached its end. He asserts that Texans are ready for change and sees himself as the alternative they seek.
