Rep. Wesley Hunt, serving Texas’s 38th District since 2023, has recently voiced concerns over civil unrest and public safety in a series of tweets. Hunt, who was born in Houston in 1981 and currently resides there, addresses issues surrounding protests and law enforcement support.
On June 10, Hunt emphasized the responsibility of elected officials to protect citizens, stating “The foremost duty of every elected official in this nation is to safeguard the lives, property, and peace of the American people.” He expressed concern over events in Los Angeles, describing them as “lawless anarchy” rather than peaceful protests. With similar demonstrations planned nationwide on June 14th, he urged attention to these developments.
In another tweet posted on the same day at nearly the same time, Hunt extended an offer of federal assistance to local authorities if needed. He stated “If the City of Houston, Harris County, or any of our law enforcement agencies require federal support to maintain peace, please contact our office.” Emphasizing community safety as a priority for his office.
On June 11th, Hunt reported ongoing disturbances in Los Angeles with numerous arrests made during riots. He highlighted violence against law enforcement by noting “Dozens are arrested in LA as riots continue for the fifth day! Rioters continue to destroy Los Angeles—harming ICE agents and law-enforcement officers.”
Hunt’s statements reflect his commitment to ensuring public safety amid rising tensions related to ongoing protests across major cities.
