Tom Oliverson, M.D., a Republican member of the Texas State House representing District 130 since 2017, addressed several healthcare-related issues in a series of posts on his Twitter account in May 2026.
On May 12, Oliverson commented on the recent price reductions for GLP-1 drugs, stating: “I believe the FDA shortage list and Section 503A rules allowing compounding pharmacies to copy the brand during a shortage had a lot to do with the rapid price drop on GLP1’s. Otherwise the drugs are only available from the manufacturer during the exclusivity period and they”.
The following day, he raised concerns about medical ethics and organ transplant allocation. On May 13, Oliverson posted: “Altering a patient’s record is fraud, and this is not a victimless crime. There are not enough organ donations for everyone, which means this doctor’s fraud hurt someone who legitimately should have received a transplant.”
Later that same day, Oliverson highlighted an issue affecting all states and referenced legislative efforts to address it. He wrote: “This is a problem in all 50 states. My model act will help. @NCOILorg”
Oliverson has served as state representative since succeeding Allen Fletcher in 2017. His legislative focus often centers on healthcare policy and regulatory reform.
