Tom Oliverson, M.D., a Republican elected to the Texas State House in 2017 to represent the state’s 130th House district, recently used his social media platform to comment on health insurance transparency and recognize first responders.
On May 3, 2026, Oliverson posted about health insurance company practices, stating: “Wow, imagine if all health insurance companies did this. Transparency is great for markets!”
The following day, he marked International Firefighters’ Day with a message of gratitude: “Today, we recognize the heroes who answer the call—no matter the hour, no matter the risk. To the brave men and women of our fire departments: thank you for your selfless service. Our communities are safer because of you. #InternationalFirefightersDay” (May 4, 2026).
Later that same day, Oliverson addressed healthcare spending concerns in Texas with a critical remark: “Ugh…. That’s 7.8 billon in healthcare costs piled in the corner of the C-suite and literally set on fire. Your premium dollars Texas and the tax exemptions we stupidly grant.” (May 4, 2026).
Oliverson has represented Texas’s 130th House district since succeeding Allen Fletcher in 2017.
