Texas State Representative Tom Oliverson, M.D., posted a series of statements on September 8, 2025, addressing judicial accountability and legislative measures concerning law enforcement funding in Harris County.
In one post from the morning of September 8, Oliverson wrote, “Just another example of why judges should face liability for letting these monsters back out on the streets. I will keep pressing for it. #txlege”. Later that day, he reiterated his stance on judicial responsibility by stating, “She should be civilly liable. Period. #txlege”.
Oliverson also highlighted his legislative efforts with a post about House Bill 192: “I authored HB 192 to protect Harris County law enforcement from budget tricks like withholding funds or blocking hires. If county leaders want to cut funding, they must first get voter approval—plain and simple. HB 192 has been sent to the Governor’s desk!”
Tom Oliverson is a Republican who was elected to the Texas State House in 2017 to represent the state’s 130th House district, succeeding Allen Fletcher. His recent posts reflect ongoing debates in Texas over judicial accountability and local government control of law enforcement budgets.
