Tom Oliverson, M.D., a Republican who has represented Texas’ 130th House district since 2017, used his social media platform on August 19, 2025, to comment on legislative and law enforcement issues in Texas.
In a post from the afternoon of August 19, Oliverson criticized an unnamed official’s actions during a special session. He wrote: “Should read, ‘…confined herself to the chamber and her office, after refusing to accept a DPS escort to ensure that she does not flee the state for the third time in 4 years during a special session, thus abdicating her responsibility to represent nearly 200,000 Tarrant County https://t.co/F3PYyWomud” (August 19, 2025).
Later that day, Oliverson announced new legislation aimed at supporting law enforcement in Harris County. He stated: “I filed HB 26 to protect law enforcement officers in Harris Co. Texans shouldn’t have to worry that political games will strip officers of the resources they need to keep our families safe. Thank you, Speaker @Burrows4TX for making this bill a priority! #txlege https://t.co/c36n5ND0QR” (August 19, 2025).
In another post that evening addressing criminal justice reform efforts in Texas’ legislature, Oliverson commented: “Only 76 votes needed to solve the PR bond problem once and for all. #txlege https://t.co/KLddb7EAZT” (August 19, 2025).
Oliverson was first elected to the Texas State House in 2017 after succeeding Allen Fletcher as representative of District 130.
