Harris County voters brave hours-long lines to cast primary ballots

Vote7

HOUSTON – Super Tuesday in Houston had some residents waiting hours to vote.

One resident, Margaret Hollie, told the Houston Chronicle that she waited almost four hours just to vote. It was the worst situation she’d seen in her 60 years as a voter.

Despite the long lines, though, voters continued to wait in order to have their say in the election.

“I'll stand as long as I have to to cast my vote," said Bettie Adami.

By 2 p.m., the Harris County Clerk’s office tweeted that 120,000 people had voted.

At the Fiesta Mart on Kirby and Old Spanish Trial, where Democrat voters greatly outnumbered Republicans, residents expressed unhappiness that there weren’t more machines for those voting Democrat.

During the day, the clerk’s office posted an interactive map to give voters a view of the wait times they could expect.

At the Metropolitan Multi-Service Center, the lines stretched around the building before voting even started at 7 a.m.
