City of Deer Park issued the following announcement on Jan. 23.

Learn how to create or keep track of retirement or other savings accounts with the nonprofit organization Society for Financial Awareness at the Deer Park Public Library on Thursday, January 30 at 6:30 p.m. Avo Mavillian, a member of the organization with more than 20 years’ experience as an adviser, will share these tips and answer your own questions:

How and when should you review your account?
How should you handle big market drops or increases?
How do you get an investment account started?
What are college savings options?
How do investments affect taxes?

The Society for Financial Awareness (sofa.org) is a national nonprofit organization that provides workshops to individuals, companies, and organizations designed to help attendees understand and address a variety of financial concerns.
