Steve Toth, a Republican elected to the Texas State House in 2019 representing the 15th House district, posted several statements on his X (formerly Twitter) account addressing Democratic accountability, emerging leaders, and proposed constitutional amendments.
On August 18, 2025, Toth questioned whether Democrats would face consequences for their actions, stating: “Will Democrats be held accountable? I’m not hopeful.”
The following day, August 19, 2025, he expressed support for young leadership within his party: “Love how God is raising up amazing voices of the next Generation of leaders. Continue to be bold Savannah!”
On August 20, 2025, Toth announced his involvement with other lawmakers in amending the Texas Constitution: “I just joined Richard Hayes, @NateSchatzline and @BriscoeCain in amending the TX Constitution moving the quorum number from 100 to 76. Democrats have too much opportunity to abuse the system and it has to stop.”
Toth began serving in the Texas House after replacing Mark Keough in 2019. The proposed amendment referenced by Toth aims to lower the quorum requirement in the Texas Legislature from 100 members to 76. This change follows previous incidents where Democratic legislators left sessions to prevent quorum and block legislative action.
