State Representative Steve Toth has announced his candidacy for the March 2026 Republican Primary, seeking to challenge Dan Crenshaw for Texas’ 2nd Congressional District seat. The announcement comes as Toth continues to garner endorsements and address party unity within the Republican caucus.
On July 28, 2025, Toth posted on his social media account: “State Representative Steve Toth, District 15, announced his candidacy for the March 2026 Republican Primary, directly challenging Crenshaw for his 2nd Congressional District seat. Over 500 Toth supporters attended a rally at Grace Woodlands Church on Tuesday evening, July 15th,”.
The following day, Toth highlighted support from a local advocate. On July 29, he wrote: “Honored to receive the support and endorsement of Tami Brown Rodriguez. She has been such a champion at fighting for Texas Children and Parental Rights. www.SteveTothForCongress #FireDanCrenshaw”.
On July 30, Toth addressed intra-party dynamics in another post: “‘Elections have consequences’ Democrats tell Republicans and yet for some reason when Republicans win elections they squander their right to lead. Enough already. 100% of the caucus needs to join together and fight Democrats.”
Toth is a Republican who was elected to the Texas State House in 2019 representing District 15, succeeding Mark Keough. His recent posts signal both an effort to consolidate support ahead of the primary and an appeal for greater unity among Republicans as he challenges incumbent Dan Crenshaw.
