Rep. Wesley Hunt Press Office has announced a new legislative effort aimed at reforming the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) program, according to a series of posts made on January 12, 2026.
In one post, the office stated, ” The TPS Reform Act restores the rule of law. The bill terminates these TPS designations and requires affected individuals to self-deport by a clearly defined deadline.” This message was published on January 12, 2026.
A subsequent post added, ” Congress reclaims its constitutional role. DHS is prohibited from redesignating these countries without explicit Congressional approval.” This tweet was also posted on January 12, 2026.

Wesley Hunt has served as the U.S. Representative for Texas’s 38th District since 2023 and resides in Houston, Texas. He won his most recent re-election in 2024 against Melissa McDonough with nearly 63% of the vote and previously defeated Duncan Klussmann in the 2022 general election with a similar margin.
