Rep. Wesley Hunt’s press office announced on July 29, 2025, that Harvard University has agreed to a $500 million deal with the Trump Administration following a dispute over federal funding and a civil rights case.
In the tweet posted at 18:02 UTC, Rep. Hunt’s office stated, “Harvard will make a $500 million deal with the Trump Administration. This comes after President Trump withheld federal funding in response to the civil rights case with the university. These universities should focus on teaching the next generation, not DEI propaganda.”
Later that day, two additional tweets were published regarding internship opportunities in Congressman Hunt’s district offices. At 18:17 UTC, his press office wrote, “Congressman Hunt is now accepting applications for Fall internships at his district offices in Houston and Tomball, TX. This program will allow university students to have an opportunity to gain direct knowledge of the functions of a congressional office, constituent services,” followed immediately by another post providing application details: “Apply online now here: https://t.co/nMQfbkZasF”
Wesley Hunt has served as U.S. Representative for Texas’s 38th District since 2023 and resides in Houston. He was born in Houston in 1981 and is currently 41 years old. In previous elections, Hunt won against Melissa McDonough in 2024 with nearly 63% of the vote and defeated Duncan Klussmann in 2022 by a similar margin.
