Rep. Wesley Hunt Press Office, representing Texas’s 38th District in the U.S. Congress since 2023, posted a series of tweets on July 16 and 17, 2025, addressing the results of the 2024 presidential election and expressing concerns about sanctuary city policies.
On July 16, Rep. Hunt’s press office commented on the outcome of the previous year’s presidential election: “On November 5th, 2024, the American People took back the country and demanded that their voices be heard. In a dramatic sweep, President Trump secured 77 million votes, captured every swing state, and won the popular vote—something no Republican has done in over twenty years.”
The following day, two posts addressed immigration enforcement issues related to sanctuary cities. On July 17 at 15:16 UTC, Rep. Hunt’s press office wrote: “Sanctuary cities continue to refuse to cooperate with ICE agents—protecting human traffickers, gang members, and terrorists. Guatemalan national, convicted of felony r*pe, was released back into the community because the city refused to turn him into ICE. These are the people”.
A subsequent tweet from July 17 at 15:19 UTC stated: “Sanctuary cities put ICE agents at risk. A Honduran national, who was ordered to be deported years ago, faces felony charges for allegedly DRAGGING an ICE officer with his car.”
Wesley Hunt was born in Houston in 1981 and continues to reside there as he serves in Congress. The representative has used his platform to highlight both national electoral outcomes and local law enforcement concerns tied to federal immigration policy.
