Rep. Dan Crenshaw, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 2nd district, shared a series of tweets on July 4th and 5th, 2025. The tweets covered topics ranging from historical reflections to current events.
On July 4th, Rep. Crenshaw referenced John Adams’ vision for Independence Day celebrations. He quoted Adams: “I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated, by succeeding Generations, as the great anniversary Festival. It ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance by solemn Acts of Devotion to God Almighty.” This tweet emphasized the importance of celebrating the nation’s independence with reverence and devotion.
Later that day, he made a light-hearted comment regarding British sentiments towards American Independence Day: “The brits are so jealous rn”. This post humorously suggested a playful rivalry between Americans and Brits concerning the holiday.
In a more somber tone on July 5th, Rep. Crenshaw addressed a tragic event in Hunt, Texas: “13 lives lost and 20 children still missing after catastrophic flooding in Hunt, Texas.” He expressed his prayers for the affected families and gratitude towards first responders working tirelessly in response to the disaster.
Dan Crenshaw has been serving since replacing Ted Poe in 2019. Born in Aberdeen, Scotland in 1984 and now residing in Humble at age 39, he is an alumnus of Tufts University where he graduated with a BA in 2006.
