Congressman Morgan Luttrell, who represents Texas’ 8th district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared a series of tweets regarding the ongoing situation in Texas following severe flooding. Luttrell, who succeeded Kevin Brady in 2023, provided updates and information to assist those affected by the natural disaster.
On July 8, 2025, Congressman Luttrell tweeted about assistance available for victims of the Kerrville flood. He shared a link with further details: “Kerrville flood victim assistance information https://t.co/irU0B8bIBo”.
Later that day, Luttrell highlighted the heroic efforts of Scott Ruskan during the floods. He noted that it was Ruskan’s first-ever Coast Guard rescue mission and praised him for saving over 165 lives. Luttrell referred to him as an American hero: “This was 26-year-old Scott Ruskan’s first-ever Coast Guard rescue mission — and he directly saved the lives of over 165 people in the Texas floods. He’s an American hero https://t.co/9tAo5suJHS”.
The following day, on July 9, 2025, Luttrell reported that 173 individuals remained missing due to the floods, with 161 from Kerr County alone. He urged anyone with information about missing persons to contact authorities and assured that search and rescue teams continue their efforts: “173 people remain missing from the Texas floods, including 161 from Kerr County. If you have any information about missing persons, please contact (830) 258-1111. Search and rescue teams haven’t stopped working. These are our friends and family members. We won’t give up hope.”
Morgan Luttrell was born in Houston in 1975 and resides in Magnolia. He graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 2000.
