Congressman Morgan Luttrell, representing Texas’ 8th district since 2023, has recently shared insights on various pressing issues through his social media posts. A former resident of Houston and a graduate of Sam Houston State University, Luttrell has been vocal about matters ranging from mental health treatments to immigration policies.
On May 19, 2025, Luttrell expressed his views on psychedelic therapy as a treatment for veterans suffering from PTSD and other mental health challenges. He stated, “Psychedelic therapy is a life-saving treatment.” He also mentioned discussing his personal experience with The Wall Street Journal, emphasizing the significance of including this therapy in the treatment options available for veterans.
The following day, May 20, 2025, Luttrell addressed concerns regarding fraudulent sponsor applications for unaccompanied minors. He highlighted a revelation by a Trump administration advisor that approximately 70% of these applications are fraudulent. In response to this issue, he noted his legislative efforts by stating, “This is exactly why I introduced the Stop Human Trafficking of Unaccompanied Migrant Children Act.” This act aims to establish more stringent vetting standards by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
Later on May 20, Luttrell discussed economic policies under President Trump’s administration. He cited the potential financial benefits for American families under Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” stating that families could bring home significantly more money annually. According to Luttrell’s post: “Under President Trump’s plan…the average American family will bring home $7,800–$13,300 *more* every year.” Additionally, he highlighted proposed tax changes such as no taxes on tips or overtime and reduced taxes on social security.
Morgan Luttrell continues to engage with constituents on key topics affecting both local and national interests through these platforms.
