Congressman Morgan Luttrell, a representative of Texas’ 8th district since 2023, shared several updates via social media on May 5, 2025. As a veteran himself, Luttrell’s messages focused on military appreciation and veterans’ affairs.
On May 5, 2025, Congressman Luttrell highlighted Military Appreciation Month, expressing his commitment to supporting veterans. He stated, “May is Military Appreciation Month As a veteran, I know the sacrifices they’ve made to defend our freedoms. As your Congressman on @HASCRepublicans, I’ll always have their six.”
Later that day, he mentioned his participation in Washington D.C., noting that the House Veterans Affairs Subcommittee on Technology Modernization was holding a hearing aimed at improving access to external VA care through enhanced scheduling technology. He assured followers of an update soon: “We’re in DC today and @HouseVetAffairs Subcommittee on Technology Modernization is holding a hearing on improving access to external VA care through better scheduling technology. I’ll be back soon with an update.”
In another post from the same day, Luttrell addressed concerns regarding the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). He emphasized the need for accountability and tangible results from the VA when it comes to scheduling appointments for veterans. His remarks were critical of a witness who testified during the day’s proceedings: “Speaking as a veteran, we deserve a VA that delivers on its promises.” He added skepticism about the answers provided during the hearing: “Unfortunately, today’s witness didn’t give us real answers — just feel-good soundbites.”
Morgan Luttrell has been actively involved in addressing issues faced by veterans since assuming office after Kevin Brady in 2023. Born in Houston and currently residing in Magnolia, Texas, Luttrell graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 2000.
