Morgan Luttrell, a well-known figure in politics, currently serves as a member of the U.S. Congress representing Texas’s 8th District since 2023. He took office following the tenure of Kevin Brady. Luttrell, an alumnus of Sam Houston State University, has been actively voicing his views on international defense matters and legislative progress through social media.

In a tweet dated April 9, 2025, Luttrell emphasized the significance of defense spending among allies in the Indo-Pacific region. He pointed out that “Taiwan raised defense spending above 3% of GDP,” while Japan and the Philippines increased it by “9.7%” and “12.3%” respectively. He urged urgency by stating, “They’re not waiting around. Neither should we.”

In another tweet from the same day, Luttrell announced the progression of his bill related to homeland security. The tweet stated, “PASSED out of @HomelandGOP: My bill, the Syria Terrorism Threat Assessment Act, ensures DHS identifies threats from terrorists operating in Syria.”

Additionally, highlighting personal achievements in sports, Luttrell congratulated professional Supercross rider Aaron Plessinger. On April 9, 2025, he shared on social media, “I spoke on the House Floor today to congratulate professional Supercross rider Aaron Plessinger, the Cowboy, on his second career win under what many are calling the worst track conditions in the history of the sport.”
