Congressman Morgan Luttrell, representing Texas’ 8th district since 2023, has been vocal about national security concerns and border policies through a series of tweets. Luttrell, born in Houston and currently residing in Magnolia, has served in the U.S. Congress after succeeding Kevin Brady. He is an alumnus of Sam Houston State University.

On February 12, 2025, Congressman Luttrell expressed his concerns regarding espionage activities by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). In his tweet, he highlighted several alarming statistics: “The CCP’s espionage threatens our national security. 60+ CCP-related espionage cases since 2021 Illegal PRC police stations in NYC Drones surveilling U.S. military bases 64,000+ Chinese nationals caught at the border This threat must be taken seriously.”

Later that day, Luttrell tweeted about a roundtable discussion he held with various agencies to address cybersecurity workforce needs. He mentioned his collaboration with educational institutions and federal agencies: “I held a roundtable with Sam Houston State University, DHS, CISA, FBI, and DIA to discuss the requirements & skill sets these agencies look for when recruiting the next generation of the cyber workforces. I am thrilled to see the development of a cyber security program at SHSU.”

On February 13, 2025, Luttrell criticized current border policies under President Biden’s administration. He voiced concerns over border security and its implications for American safety: “Biden’s open-border policies turned our border into a gateway for cartels, traffickers, and criminals — endangering American lives and innocent children. Republicans & President Trump are working to clean up Biden’s mess. It’s time to restore law & order.”
