Congressman Morgan Luttrell, representing Texas’ 8th district, has been active on social media, discussing legislative initiatives and financial measures aimed at benefiting his constituents. His recent posts highlight efforts to address Medicaid protection, border security funding, and disaster preparedness for businesses.

On May 22, 2025, Congressman Luttrell tweeted about a bill designed to support vulnerable populations by protecting Medicaid. He stated that the bill also aims to “rein in wasteful spending” and position Congress as an ally of working families. “The bill also protects Medicaid for the vulnerable, reins in wasteful spending, and puts Congress back on the side of working families.”

Later that day, Luttrell addressed Texas’ financial commitment to border security. He noted that the state spent $11.1 billion due to perceived inadequacies from the Biden administration. This expenditure included $5.87 billion on personnel and $4.75 billion on barriers. Luttrell highlighted a legislative victory with a proposed $12 billion grant intended to reimburse states like Texas for such expenses: “Texas spent $11.1B to secure the border because the Biden admin wouldn’t…This is a hard-earned win for Texas.”

In another tweet from May 22, 2025, Congressman Luttrell introduced new legislation aimed at supporting critical businesses during disasters. The Critical Businesses Preparedness Act proposes a 30% tax credit for backup generators in high-risk areas to ensure these businesses remain operational during emergencies: “When disasters strike, critical businesses can’t go dark…I just introduced the Critical Businesses Preparedness Act…”

Morgan Luttrell has served in U.S. Congress since 2023 after succeeding Kevin Brady. Born in Houston in 1975 and currently residing in Magnolia, he graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 2000.
