Representative Dan Crenshaw, a member of Congress from Texas, posted a series of statements on August 18, 2025, addressing U.S. climate policy and energy strategy.
In his first post, Crenshaw wrote, “The report’s core finding: U.S. emission cuts alone would deliver minimal global climate benefit—after long delays—while potentially imposing greater economic harm than climate change itself. That’s not denial. That’s reality.” (August 18, 2025).
He continued by advocating for what he described as “energy realism,” stating “The path forward is energy realism: reliable, affordable, secure energy paired with innovation-driven environmental progress. Not alarmism, not mandates that undercut America’s competitiveness and security.” (August 18, 2025).
Crenshaw also commented on the pursuit of alternative energy sources: “None of this means we shouldn’t pursue alternative energy where it makes sense. But math matters. Grid reliability matters. Trade-offs matter. Climate radicals want to force the extremely risky adoption of unreliable energy sources on humanity, based on a shaky and” (August 18, 2025).
Dan Crenshaw has represented his district in Congress since winning election in 2018 and has consistently secured reelection in subsequent cycles—including victories over Todd Litton in 2018 with 52.8% of the vote; Sima Ladjevardian in 2020 with 55.6%; Robin Fulford in 2022 with nearly two-thirds of the vote; and Peter Filler in 2024 with approximately the same margin.
