Representative Dan Crenshaw, a Republican congressman from Texas, shared a series of posts on October 15, 2025, criticizing a federal program he described as ideologically driven and misrepresented as supporting small businesses.
In one post, Crenshaw stated, “This wasn’t a ‘small business’ program. It was a leftist bureaucracy designed to advance their ideology. Applicants were graded on their ‘commitment to DEI and climate justice.’ Translation: Prove you’re politically aligned—or you don’t get any funding.” (October 15, 2025).
He further commented on the program’s public perception and naming, writing, “Yeah, it does seem like a bad thing to cut, IF you don’t care to know what the program is actually about. It’s labeled something nice (most govt programs are) like ‘Community Development Fund,’ and so you ask, well how can we be against that? Because it’s a racist and sexist https://t.co/pMVoO0id1I” (October 15, 2025).
In another post on the same day, Crenshaw contrasted the current administration’s approach with that of former President Trump, stating, “President Trump is focused on outcomes, not ideology. He delivered 26,000 small business loans and $12.6 billion in his first 100 days—an 80 percent increase over Biden. He strengthened Opportunity Zones and expanded private investment, cutting taxes so small businesses could” (October 15, 2025).
Crenshaw has been a prominent figure in Texas politics since first winning election to Congress in 2018. In the most recent general election in 2024, he defeated Peter Filler with approximately 65.7% of the vote. Previous elections saw similar margins: he won against Robin Fulford in 2022 with about 65.9% of the vote; against Sima Ladjevardian in 2020 with around 55.6%; and against Todd Litton in 2018 with approximately 52.8%.
