U.S. Representative Dan Crenshaw, who has served multiple terms in Congress after winning re-election by significant margins since 2018, posted a series of tweets on October 16, 2025, criticizing Democrats amid an ongoing government shutdown.

In his first tweet on October 16, Crenshaw wrote: “I’m just gonna keep posting these hypocrites until it starts to sink in. Day 16 of the Democrats’ temper tantrum shutdown.” He followed this with two additional posts containing links: “https://t.co/JyM63ycnf2” and “https://t.co/TlKUB4BD6P”, both also published on October 16.

Crenshaw’s remarks come as the federal government remains partially closed for more than two weeks, with partisan disputes over budgetary issues at the center of the impasse. His comments are part of a broader pattern of criticism directed at Democratic lawmakers during the shutdown period.

Since first being elected to Congress in 2018, Crenshaw has consistently secured re-election. In 2024, he defeated Peter Filler in the general election with 65.7% of the vote. In previous elections, he won against Robin Fulford in 2022 with 65.9%, Sima Ladjevardian in 2020 with 55.6%, and Todd Litton in 2018 with 52.8%.
