Representative Dan Crenshaw, a U.S. Congressman from Texas, used his social media platform on September 9 and 10, 2025, to comment on issues of crime, public safety, and political outcomes.
On September 9, Crenshaw addressed the case of Decarlos Brown and Iryna Zarutska in a post: “Decarlos Brown was guilty. 14 times over. But he was free. He was out on the street because of ‘mercy.’ Iryna Zarutska was innocent. Now she’s dead. Brown stabbed her in the neck on a train in Charlotte on August 22nd. This whole idea of mercy promoted and enacted by leftist”.
Later that day, Crenshaw posted about the reaction of bystanders during the incident: “Shocking to watch bystanders barely react, if at all, while a woman bleeds to death on a train. This is what happens when courage is criminalized, apathy is normalized, and criminals are set free. We need more Daniel Pennys in this world.”
On September 10, Crenshaw commented on recent political developments: “I wonder if anything big was happening in the middle of that time period. Fortunately, the party that wouldn’t have created more jobs and opportunity for Americans lost on November 5th.”
Dan Crenshaw has held his congressional seat since winning his first election in 2018 against Todd Litton with just over half the vote share. He subsequently secured re-election in 2020 against Sima Ladjevardian with approximately 56% of votes cast; again in 2022 versus Robin Fulford with nearly two-thirds support; and most recently in 2024 against Peter Filler with roughly the same margin (about 66%) as previous cycles.
