Rep. Dan Crenshaw, U.S. Congressman representing Texas’s 2nd district, addressed recent events at his public town halls through a series of posts on August 29, 2025. The tweets focused on his engagement with constituents, ongoing Medicaid reform discussions, and responses to protests during these meetings.
In a post published at 23:49 UTC, Crenshaw stated: “Yeah except I’ve held 3 public townhalls this week alone. I went into detail on Medicaid reforms while dozens of activists screamed and caused a scene. I ain’t hiding from anybody. I’ll defend our agenda and Trump’s presidency anytime, anywhere.”
Shortly after, at 23:58 UTC, he commented further about the atmosphere in Kingwood during one of the town halls: “WOW you’re gonna want to watch this town hall. Though honestly the video doesn’t do it justice because it’s hard to hear how loud the protestors were.
I love the Kingwood community and townhalls here have ALWAYS been productive and educational, even when we might disagree.
I”
At 23:58 UTC on the same day, Crenshaw also posted a brief message directed at local media coverage: “Fact check, @HoustonChron:”
Crenshaw has consistently maintained a strong electoral record in Texas’s 2nd congressional district. In the most recent general election in 2024, he defeated Peter Filler with approximately 65.7% of the vote to Filler’s 34.3%. Previous elections show similar margins; in 2022 he won against Robin Fulford by nearly two-to-one (65.9% to 34%), in 2020 he prevailed over Sima Ladjevardian (55.6% to 42.8%), and in his first campaign in 2018 he beat Todd Litton (52.8% to 45.6%).
