Representative Dan Crenshaw addressed recent concerns regarding changes to Medicaid policy in a series of posts on August 18, 2025. Crenshaw emphasized that the modifications are intended to protect and strengthen Medicaid for vulnerable populations.

In his first post, Crenshaw rejected claims about widespread harm resulting from the policy changes, stating, “So no. 51,000 people are not going to die because we’ve strengthened and protected Medicaid for those who *truly* need it. Bernie tried pushing this exact same bogus stat 3 months ago and I thoroughly debunked it. Here’s that thread: https://t.co/1tqTHZdqZ2” (August 18, 2025).

He followed up with a clarification about coverage under the revised Medicaid program: “Reminder: – Seniors are still covered – People with disabilities are still covered – Kids are still covered” (August 18, 2025).

Addressing criticism from Senator Elizabeth Warren regarding one of the provisions in question, Crenshaw wrote, “One of the “deadly” provisions Warren is crying about? Telling able-bodied, childless adults they need to work, train, or volunteer 20 hours a week to keep taxpayer-funded benefits.” (August 18, 2025).

Dan Crenshaw has served as a U.S. Representative since first winning election in 2018 and has consistently secured re-election in subsequent cycles. In the most recent general election in 2024, he defeated Peter Filler with approximately 65.7% of the vote. He previously won against Robin Fulford in 2022 with a similar margin and had earlier victories over Sima Ladjevardian in 2020 and Todd Litton in 2018.

The ongoing debate over Medicaid requirements continues amid broader discussions on eligibility criteria and benefit protections for various groups.
