U.S. Representative Dan Crenshaw addressed crime and American political philosophy in a series of posts on August 29, 2025, through his official X (formerly Twitter) account.

In one post, Crenshaw referenced public concerns about crime statistics, stating: “Some stats for all the indignant lefties who claim crime isn’t a problem that anyone cares about..” (August 29, 2025). He followed this message with another post containing two links: “https://t.co/qbWQtMqVyS https://t.co/QUggs3k2Uq” (August 29, 2025).

Later the same day, Crenshaw commemorated the birthday of John Locke, an influential Enlightenment thinker whose ideas shaped the founding principles of the United States. He wrote: “Happy birthday to John Locke, born this day in 1632. If you care about liberty, you should care about Locke. He gave us the intellectual backbone of America’s founding. “ (August 29, 2025).

Dan Crenshaw has represented Texas’s second congressional district since winning his first election in 2018. In recent years he has maintained significant electoral support: in the 2024 general election he defeated Peter Filler with nearly two-thirds of the vote; similar margins were recorded against Robin Fulford in 2022 and Sima Ladjevardian in 2020. His initial victory came against Todd Litton in 2018.
